Besides Energy Products, Magallanes market iron ore, nickel, silica sand and bauxite. Our minerals are sold in the market by our Trading Division, allowing us to respond to the demands of our customers more flexibly.
We provide a stable and reliable supply of mineral resources, together with customized business solutions.
Our consolidated resources in raw materials, supply chain, up-to-date market intelligence and professional expertise offer a well-rounded strategy to all our client’s needs.

NICKEL
We are a marketer of Indonesian nickel, and trade it in the domestic market. Our marketing business deals in nickel metal as well as concentrates, intermediates and ferronickel.
These materials are mainly used in stainless and special steel production, which is widely applied in the automotive, construction, transportation equipment and consumer electronics industries.
Nickel sulphide and laterite ore is used to manufacture nickel metal, especially for the production of stainless steel, as well as nickel sulfate, a key ingredient in electric vehicle batteries.
We trade other metals as a by-product of nickel production, including cobalt, copper, precious metals and platinum-group metals.

IRON ORE
Our years of experience with iron ore and steel have aligned us closely with our customers’ exact requirements.
We physically market iron ore from third-party producers to customers worldwide, such as pellets, lumps, sinter feed and pellet feed, from suppliers in countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico and Australia – with Asia making up most of our customer base, mostly in China and Japan. We use our international network to link targeted buyers to specific grades of stock.
Our close relationships with major miners allow us to secure supplies at competitive prices and assist smaller mining companies.

SILICA SAND
Magallanes identified the silica sand shortage in the Asia-Pacific region, which accounts for 47% of global demand, as a unique opportunity for our company. The shortage, which is predicted to worsen with dwindling local supplies and increasing demand, has caused an increase in price.
Silica sand is the primary ingredient in all types of glass manufacturing. It is used in making flat glass for buildings and vehicles, container glass for food and beverages, and as specialty glass for photovoltaic cells and mobile phones, as well as high-capacity lithium-ion (Li-ion or LIB) rechargeable batteries. In recent years, it has also been used to manufacture solar panels, and with interest in renewable energies now on the rise, its demand is taking off.
Our company has developed strategic agreements with producers in Malaysia and Australia.

BAUXITE
Bauxite is the main source of ore aluminum production. Bauxite contains alumina (AI203) and a mixture of silica, various iron oxides, and titanium dioxide. Indonesian bauxite has been mined and exported since 1935 and China has been the main export destination for more than 10 years.
Global traded bauxite market has entered a period of significant transformation, driven by the emergence of refineries importing bauxite into China. More recently, we’ve observed the early signs of structural grade depletion of China’s domestic bauxite reserves which, combined with strong alumina growth, create a significant opportunity for bauxite miners around the world.
We conscientiously aim to secure long term, stable supply partnership with clients for delivery of bulk bauxite worldwide.
Our bauxite is suitable for cement production with Monohydrate Boehmitic and Diasporic characteristics.
